I’m writing this month’s favorite post in complete denial that summer is almost over. As much as I will miss the daily sunshine, I am still excited for a season change. Fall in Seattle is the best and there’s so much to look forward to in a brand new year in a few months as well. I know the rest of 2017 will probably fly by and I’m quite okay with it. I love new years and all the holidays leading up to it! In August, there were a lot of new food experiences so inevitably this will be a food-heavy post. Keep on reading to see what made the cut this month!
Food Favorites
–Next Level Burger: I’m a meat eater so the term plant-based is only something I know because of social media (lol). When I was invited to try this plant-based burger chain at their brand new Roosevelt Square location, I was skeptical. A lot of my blogger friends raved about it so I ended up feeling excited along with my skepticism. Guess what? It actually blew my mind! The burgers, variety of fries and toppings, and shakes were so yummy. Even though it’s totally food for indulging, you don’t feel too guilty. Try the bleu BBQ burger and some crinkle chili cheese fries for starters. But really, everything on the menu looks amazing. It’s also very reasonably priced, not what you always expect from this type of restaurant.
– General Porpoise: I’m probably the last Seattleite to try General Porpoise but in the off chance you haven’t either, GO!! Aside from being the most Instagram-able spot ever, the handmade donuts are so fluffy and rich. I highly recommend the classic vanilla custard if you’re looking for something simple and satisfying. Don’t forget to use the bathroom before you leave. (Never knew a bathroom could be that cute.)
–Skinny Pop: (buy here) I’m not much of a snacker but sometimes I need a little pick me up between lunch and dinner on a particularly long day. Popcorn is one of the best snacks I’ve found to fill my craving for something (relatively) savory that’s not complete trash to consume. I bought a giant bag of Skinny Pop from Costco and portion out small amounts in Ziploc bags. You can get prepackaged snack bags from places like Amazon for the lazy :) I like that it’s very lightly salted and how it tastes almost buttery, without all the guilt.
Lifestyle Favorites
–Amazon Prime: I sound like a broken record so I’ll keep it brief. I’m obsessed with Amazon Prime and have bought everything from a set of water bottle cleaning brushes to a letter board
lately. Can’t beat all the perks like shows, music, and free/FAST shipping! Try Amazon Prime for free!
–Backpacks: In my recent post I mentioned how refreshing it has been to replace my purse with a backpack. Since I received my backpack, I’ve carried it as much as possible. If you love to carry all the things, this backpack is awesome. The canvas material is perfect as it’s lightweight. The brand of the backpack is Baggu if anyone’s curious and I have it in black. (If you’re curious, the pink chair is this Modernica one.)
Beauty Favorites
–Nude nail polish: I’m an avid nail polish wearer and rarely go without it. When I got my nail done by the amazing ladies of Juniper Natural Nails recently, I chose a Deborah Lippman nude polish and LOVED it. My friend Katrina also got a nude base – how cute is the eye on her ring finger?! (Check out an old post I did about Juniper’s west Seattle location.)
–Boscia Luminizing Black mask: This is my first peel off mask and now I think I’m addicted! There’s something so satisfying about being able to peel off a mask and not have to rinse your face after. (Lazy girl probs.) Since this is a black mask, it’s really fun to peel the nose part off because it’s like a pore strip without the pain! It does a great job at pulling gunk out of pores. I do find that you need to apply a very thick layer for it to come off in one peel.
Wishing you all the best long weekend!! I can’t believe the next time I write a favorites post it will be October. Brace yourself for all the pumpkin things.
