I love the crisp, clean look of white jeans but they can be tricky to pull off. If you're dressing for a casual day, you can style them with a plaid flannel or a chambray button up. A personal favorite of mine is pairing striped tops with white bottoms for a nautical look. Today I switched it up a little with a polka dotted pattern! Is anyone sick of my chambray shirt yet? I love this thing. These pants are unique because they have gold detailing (the ankle zippers are my favorite!) and the embroidering on the sides gives it a fun twist. They were an awesome find at H&M last summer for only around $20. Wardrobe Staple: Gingham Shirt
Gingham is nothing new or especially interesting but it is a staple that makes for a timeless piece to have in anyone's wardrobe. Even for a guy! The versatility with this piece is as good as a chambray button up. Dress it up or down - a gingham shirt will always make you look put together. I found this gem at a thrift store for only $4 recently and checked it off my wish list the same week I put it on there - score! The lightweight fabric is perfect for spring and summer, layering underneath sweaters in the cooler months, and for that classic and effortless look of rolling up the sleeves. I rarely wear anything with sleeves without rolling them up, I love the laid back feel that it creates. To liven up the outfit a bit I threw on a red braided belt that's a nice contrast to the shirt. The Shift Dress
For the lazy fashionista in you, the shift dress is a fun silhouette to try and style for spring & summer because it requires minimal effort and you can find them at many stores. Two style icons that I specifically remember admiring for their shift dresses are Olivia Palermo and Alexa Chung. (Petite hint: I am only 5'3 and the shift dress, already relatively boxy, made me think that it could overwhelm my smaller frame. If you're petite, consider looking for a shorter dress! If it hits your knees, consider getting it hemmed or find another.) ....These two look perfect as usual. Onto my shift dress search // A few months ago I was running errands and passed by the clearance rack at Target (a definite guilty pleasure) and found this shift dress that's a bit more structured than what I had in mind. 50% off retail and some store credit made me do it..so here I am with an extra dress in my closet that I don't need. I finally took it out of my closet and wore it out to an anniversary dinner last weekend and it was very simple to accessorize! I almost always accessorize black clothing with either yellow or rose gold and it's always a perfect match. I also added a bit of a pop … [Read more...]
