As I mentioned in my last post {read it here} I bought a pair of booties during a post-finals online shopping spree. This particular pair is from 6pm.com an online retailer that I haven't heard much about compared to Zappos, hautelook, etc. One of my friends recommended the website 6pm.com to me when I bought my Sperry's a while back. I've since purchased a few things from the website and I've had a great experience so far! Some reasons why I keep coming back: Free, fast shipping (Standard is 3 day shipping with tracking) Huge brand/item selection Frequent sales/markdowns Great customer service I received my package exactly when it was estimated to arrive. I'd give every package I've received so far 5/5 stars because everything's always in great shape and packed really well when it arrives. The shoes I purchased are the White Mountain Jitter booties in Taupe. {Buy them here} They're originally $79 and now you can get them for $30. When I purchased them, they were having a $17 one day only sale so of course I had to take advantage! I was a little iffy on the quality of the boots since I've never bought a pair from White Mountain and they were so inexpensive! … [Read more...]
Homemade Funfetti Cake Recipe!
Boxed cake mix, particularly Funfetti, is delicious. However, there are plenty of reasons why any baking fanatic would rather make it from scratch and after testing this recipe out, I have to say I can see what the hype is all about! Doesn't hurt that I know exactly what's going into the cake. {what you need} Yields one 9-inch cake (I doubled everything to make two cakes! More cake is always better.) -1 and 2/3 C flour -1/2 tsp baking powder -1/4 tsp baking soda -1/2 tsp salt -1 stick unsalted butter (melted) -3/4 C granulated sugar -1/4 C light brown sugar -1 egg -1/4 C yogurt (I used vanilla. You can also use greek yogurt or sour cream) -3/4 C milk -1 tbsp vanilla extract -2/3 C sprinkles (NOT nonpareils) - In your grocery store you're (probably) going to want to buy whatever is labeled "traditional" First, melt the butter in a microwave safe bowl. Remember that I'm making two cakes so everything is doubled. Use a whisk to break up any chunks in the brown sugar and to mix everything together. You'll get something a little like this: a grainy light brown mixture. Next, add the dairy products. Pour the milk, yogurt/cream, and eggs into the mixture … [Read more...]
meet my style
Hello! I've had this blog for exactly a year now, however I've started anew with a new vision & the motivation to not leave it as abandoned as it was before. Since I plan to share this more publicly through various social media channels, I figured the most appropriate "first" post would be a little bit about me. Specifically, some details about what you can find in my closet and what makes up my style. Let me start out by saying, I'm a huge blog lover and I've been reading blogs for years. The "fashion personality" posts that some of my favorite bloggers have written are completely different now compared to when I first started following them. This is typical, as fashion trends constantly change and of course, people change. That's why it's a little difficult for me to describe my style but if I really had to, I would describe it as classic & modern. {Classic} The picture above is an outfit that I could wear everyday if that were acceptable. Completely on par with the style profile, these are pieces that I think are timeless. (Okay, maybe not the distressed denim. While I am a fan - from afar - I'm not very comfortable wearing it myself.) However, a chunky knit … [Read more...]
