Outfit details: Top / Denim Jacket / Cropped Pants c/o / Heels / Purse There are a few things that I incorporate into most of my style blog posts. If you're a regular reader then you probably already know where I'm going with this. My aversion to color and love for comfortable clothing is a common theme around here. With literally hundreds of thousands of personal blogs out there on the Internet, I'm not here to make strides in the fashion world. My only hope is to inspire the everyday girl, like me, to wear what makes her feel confident. Normally I default to neutrals but sometimes a new pair of bright floral pants does the trick. If you saw my J.Jill August collection unboxing on Instagram, you know I wasn't sure about these pants at first. They were a little different than what I expected and of course, the bright red tones were a tad scary for a neutral-lover like myself. After trying on a variety of outfit combinations, I landed on this casual look that can be easily dressed up or down with the shoes. Although I'm petite (5'3) I initially thought the petite pants were too short on me. I solved that by wearing these heels which have a 4 inch heel. Having that extra height … [Read more...]
Boho Ruffle Tunic
Happy Thursday! Hope you are all having a great week so far! I hate to be whiny here, but I'm going to be for a second. My week has gone by so slowly and I've been irritable from the heat. I know mid-80's is laughable to some of you but for the PNW natives who also don't have air conditioning, you know this is kind of hellish. The smoke still hasn't subsided either so to make the heat worse, there's an actual blanket of smoke covering us. Moving right along...today's post is a sad attempt to make myself feel cooler because I'm totally channeling fall vibes with this outfit. This boho ruffle tunic just makes me want to go to a pumpkin patch and take basic pictures. Fall, where you at?! Okay now that I got some whining out of the way (which I usually just save for Twitter) I figured I should share some positive things. Might as well lighten up the mood here right? I frequently write out positive things from my day in my journal to help me turn a bad day around. It might not work for you, but I'd give it a try just in case! - Tomorrow I'm going to Yakima with a few coworkers for some wine tasting and relaxation. I'm excited aside from the 100+ degree temps. (What am I supposed … [Read more...]
When to Say Yes (or No) to Collaborating with a Brand for Free
So you're a blogger and you just got your first collaboration inquiry from a brand? Congrats! It took me almost a year of blogging to land my first collaboration so I completely understand your excitement. More likely than not, this collaboration (and others in the future) won't be compensated. How do you know if this collaboration is worth your time and effort? Is it okay to say yes to collaborations that don't pay? Obviously there is no right answer because blogging doesn't have universal rules but I'm going to dig into this topic and give you my two cents! Outfit details: Midi dress c/o J.Jill / Sandals / Tote bag When to say YES to a Collaboration You already use (and love) the product or service. Collaborating with a brand that you're already familiar with is practically a no brainer and the best scenario. When you authentically love a brand, you can authentically endorse it. Your personal experiences with the brand can also add credibility to the content you're creating. Chances are, if you're a fan of something you will naturally want to share it with your friends, coworkers, etc. That's how you should see this collaboration opportunity - just an extension of sharing … [Read more...]
