There are three things you should know about me before reading this post:
1. I love playing with new makeup and sharing that on my blog. (Probably why every monthly favorites always has beauty products in it.)
2. I love Disney as much as the next girl. (Except my friend, Jaime.)
3. I’ve never watched any of the Star Wars movies even though it’s considered a rite of passage to some. Please don’t judge me…
So, despite not being a Star Wars fan, I was thrilled to try out some of the new products from CoverGirl’s new limited edition Star Wars Makeup Collection. You’ll find a range of colors from classic reds, to bold purples, to more daring and futuristic ones like gold and silver. I’ll be honest, very bold and out there makeup is not really my thing. I like to stick with my neutrals! (Can you blame me? I live in Seattle. Not a whole lot of color going on here.) The mix of shades that I have here is a great representation of the offerings in this line, however, because is something for everyone. Stick around until the end to enter the giveaway! There will be 2 winners.
Colorlicious lipsticks: 6 shades (silver / red / purple / nude / lilac / gold)
Like I mentioned before, there are some classics like nude and red, some great deep shades perfect for fall and winter, and then some more unique shades. The gold and silver are actually really pretty layered on top of other lipsticks for some extra dimension. My favorite combo so far is a deep berry with the gold patted over the center of my lips. They are comfortable and not too drying!
Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss: (Speed of light / Red Revenge / Fury / Mutant / Nemesis / Nuclear) I’m someone who always has their nails painted and when it’s the holiday season, my go-to is a bright red. I’ve never used CoverGirl polishes but I was pleasantly surprised by the opaqueness! The built in top coat really works and you’re left with a glossy finish where even one coat is enough but just to play it safe, two coats is perfect. Lasting power isn’t great without a separate heavy duty top coat, but I switch up my polish often so it’s fine with me. I’m loving the bright cobalt blue (Mutant) and deep plummy/purple shades. (I’m wearing Red Revenge on my nails on this picture from Thanksgiving!)
Super Sizer Mascara (Waterproof): There are 10 different tubes that have different quotes – some that are Dark Side quotes and some that are Light Side quotes. Luckily the one I have is a quote that literally everyone knows. Even myself, a total Star Wars novice. (As in, I only know Han Solo as Harrison Ford.) The brush is really unique and definitely takes some getting used to. I prefer mascaras that give more volume but this one does give you nicely defined lashes with a bit of length. If you’re like me, you’ll enjoy this mascara as it naturally dries out after a few uses. Now I’m loving it and it really is waterproof, meaning no smudging! Eye Shadow Quad (exact palette here): Any sort of neutral palette for the eyes is a win in my book. CoverGirl usually doesn’t mix mattes with shimmers, so I would have liked at least another matte shade. The pigmentation isn’t bad and this is a handy little palette to travel with. This isn’t branded with Star Wars but it’s a new quad that just came out as well, so check out the rest of the shades here.
