Hi, it’s me. I’m not sure how to start this post or even what I’ll say yet, but I’m just going to keep typing and see where that gets me. I’ve finally found a little bit of motivation to write something which is big, since I haven’t published a post in over a year. In the 6 years that I’ve had this blog, I’ve never taken that long of a hiatus. I felt bad neglecting this space, of course, but not bad enough to force myself out of the break until I was ready.
It’s possible no one actually cares why I took a break from blogging. In case anyone out there does care, it’s actually a lot more complicated than any one reason. If I had to give you a better idea, I would boil it down to lack of interest and the increasing amount of change I’d been experiencing in my personal life. I used to blog about topics like beauty and fashion, and I am just not interested in writing about those topics as much anymore. The blogging/social media space has become an icky feeling place to me for years. I just needed some mental clarity to figure out how I fit back into this place again. Then on the other hand, I have had a constant stream of life changes since I last posted. I’ve had some extremely low lows, and then some really high highs. A constant roller coaster mixed with a pandemic…has been a bit of a disaster. But I’m okay, things will be okay.
I’m still working on my “vision” for this blog as I get back into the swing of things. After a year of neglect, you can imagine the amount of administrative/backend work I have to catch up on. Jared recently helped me migrate my blog hosting (which I renewed for three years, whoa), up some of the security, and I’ve been trying to tidy up the pages on my blog. So stay tuned for that vision. As of now, I just wanted to say hi and share some of what’s new since I last posted.
A few casual life updates…
-Jared and I got married on 8/10/19! Our one year anniversary even passed since I last updated, haha.
-I got promoted at my job (technically twice) and have been working hard at developing in my career this year.
-WE GOT A PUPPY! My entire life was made and we got an 8 week old mini Australian Labradoodle named Lemon at the beginning of quarantine.
-I started therapy in 2019 and have a new therapist I’m seeing as of this summer. It has changed my life.
-COVID-19 completely changed our lives as well. In March, we came to stay with my family for what we thought would be about two weeks. That turned into us eventually moving out of our small city apartment and living in the suburbs with my family full time. We’re working remote for the foreseeable future (which I think will turn into a permanent situation) so we were able to get out of Seattle for a bit. It’s been so much healthier than being cooped up and I have no idea how people raise puppies in the city without yards!

I’ll end this quick update post with a few of my favorite pictures of Lemon, because duh. I will have some more posts soon, including some wedding content finally. Also, I think I want to do a Q&A post in one of my next updates. Let me know if you have questions for me here or on Instagram, where I’ll collect them!

Thanks for reading if you made it to the end! It feels good to be posting again.

Happy belated 1st Anniversary, Grace and Jared. What a beautiful wedding!
