Happy holidays from me to you!
December is historically a month filled with bloggers putting out gift guides because #commission. Honestly, I’m getting a little bored of those types of posts. I constantly toy with the idea of straying away from your average blog posts, such as product roundups, and replacing them with more personal posts. Being too personal on the Internet is pretty daunting because literally anyone could see it. (No shame, I internet stalk people too. Hi if you’re internet stalking me right now..haha.) I’m still working out what direction I want to take in 2017 but I’m warming up to the idea of more personal stuff on here. I figured I’ll ease into it with just some life updates today. This works out well because I’ve been a tad MIA. Or a lot. I’ve been gone for two weeks aka an eternity in blog land.
So…life lately looked a little like this:
-Right after Thanksgiving, my boyfriend and I decided to move in together. Up until December 17th, we had 3 apartment leases between the two of us. So that was fun. We’re in an awesome place with a lot of room. Room for furniture that we still need to shop for. We already bought our sectional but it’s going to take over 2 months because it’s custom. Next on the list are night stands and a bar cart. The bar cart is obviously not a necessity but you already know that’s going to be a great Instagram prop.
-It’s the end of the fiscal year at work. Kudos to my fellow people who work with financial data because this time of year is actually really busy for us. When everyone else is having a slow season, we are rushing to get things done. I have an amazing manager though so that helps!
-I procrastinated on Christmas shopping and even though it’s Christmas Eve Eve today, I’m still behind. I’ve always celebrated Christmas as a religious holiday so it truly is not about the presents to me and I don’t really feel pressure to buy all the things. Last weekend after wrapping up moving, J and I still went to one of the big malls around here and it was the worst. Reminder to myself to never go shopping without some snacks in my purse. Or to just stick to online shopping.
-I am fortunate enough to get invited to many events through my blog but it’s just not possible to go to all of them with how busy I am sometimes. The first event I went to this month was at the DRY Sparkling headquarters. You’ve seen DRY sodas before at Target and other mass retailers. What you might not know is that DRY was founded in Seattle and their HQ is in the historic Smith Tower. The elevators are old fashioned and operated by elevator attendants which is SO COOL. (I was the nerd that couldn’t contain themselves while riding in the elevator.) We enjoyed really yummy food, amazing cocktails paired with liquor from Heritage Distilling Company, and J even won a raffle prize! The best part of events is honestly the goodie bags – we definitely got spoiled.
-We also had the chance to go to another event this month but it’s not the usual type of blogging event that we go to. The Murder Mystery Company gifted us tickets to go to a show and we just had to try the experience out. We went to the Snohomish location (French Creek Manor) and unfortunately it was snowing that day so it was kind of a difficult drive. With a few inches of snow on the ground already, it just felt wrong to venture out so far but we’re glad we tried it! I wasn’t the biggest fan of the food and getting up to gather clues is not really my cup of tea, but it was the people we met at our table that made it a fun time. One of the guests at our table was chosen to play a character and he was hilarious! This would be a fun experience if you go with a bunch of friends for sure. (Check out their Seattle website here.)
I’m spending just a few days at my parents’ then it’s back to Seattle. I am looking forward to planning out more content for the new year, especially after this little hiatus. Hope you are all enjoying the last bit of 2016!
