A LOT of you have been asking me how wedding planning is going and one of the biggest items on my to-do list before the holidays was taking engagement photos. I had a vision for these photos and I won't lie, there was a lot of preparation on my part to bring my vision to life. I spent hours shopping, got my hair done, went for a manicure, and also tried eyelash extensions for the very first time ever!! I've always wanted to try them because everyone I know who has them looks sooo good! The price and process itself always intimidated me so I just never tried them. I figured I would try them out eventually and save them for a special occasion. A serious case of FOMO and the newly opened Lash Lounge in Bellevue was the perfect excuse to bite the bullet. I thought I would document my experience in case any of you are new to lash extensions as well! My Natural Lashes Before Thin, sparse, stick straight. Unfortunately I am not naturally blessed like Jared, who has the longest curled eyelashes. (It's fine. Not jealous of them daily.) When I curl my lashes and wear mascara, I don't see a big difference so I usually compensate by wearing eyeliner on my top lid. Getting the … [Read more...]
Life Lately (AKA Where Have I Been?!)
HELLO HEY HI, remember me?! To say its been a bit since my last post is an understatement. In the past 4+ years of blogging, I don't think I have taken such a long break. I've been away for good reason though, I promise. What have I been up to since I last wrote a blog post? I got engaged to the love of my life. I went on my first business trip and spoke at a conference! (Oh, also this trip brought me to Disney World for a whole week which was great.) I planned and helped host my first blog event. I started wedding planning. I tried yoga. I brunched countless times. I reunited with people that I hadn't seen in a while. Honestly the past two months away have been a whirlwind. I cannot put into words the feelings that I've felt. There have been insane highs and definitely some lows. I thought this time in my life was supposed to be all sunshine and rainbows so I felt guilty to feel anything other than happiness. The truth is, you can't have a season of change and growth without both the highs and lows. So here we are. The present is so good, but there are still some things in my life that I'm just figuring out. It's hard and can be so frustrating and … [Read more...]
Japanese Drugstore Beauty Purchases
Whenever people ask me what the highlight of my trip to Japan was I (without hesitation) say: the drugstores and convenience stores. I'll save my ode to 7-Elevens for another post because this one is going to be about the Japanese drugstore beauty purchases. I didn't go overboard because there unfortunately is a shelf life for beauty products so it's just a mini haul. I waited to try most of the products before writing this post so I can also share mini reviews. Some were impossible to find online but I linked as many as I could! Senka Perfect Whip Face Wash (buy here on Amazon Prime!) - I saw this face wash everywhere I turned and it was just so affordable that I had to grab one for myself. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is a Shiseido brand which is interesting. They sell Shiseido products in all drugstores in Japan and the sub-brands are everywhere! I like this fresh smelling cleanser because it's gentle but does leave your face feeling very clean. Squeeze a tiny drop into your hand, add a bit of water, and it foams up nicely. Unless you use too much, this does not dry out your skin. Shiseido eyelash curler (buy here) - I got this for around $6 USD!! … [Read more...]
